- Prior owner drilled a hole and stuck an old Rifleman barrel in where the cockpit of the mech is. They did this because...
- The PPC barrel is missing.
- The LRM-10 "tube" was missing.
- The casting of this was,... odd. Some mold lines and the leg assembly didn't fit right.
- Excess glue in places.
I had made a PPC barrel for my other unseen Scorpion, so knew I could take care of this. The missile tube was a different story. I found some styrene tubing I have laying around that was the right diameter, then cut it to length. Then I took the missile covers from my extra Robotech RPG Tactics miniatures. Now, the sprue from Robotech RPG Tactics give you tons of these things, so I won't miss them from those miniatures. Luckily, diameter wise, they were an exact fit.
Since this is my second Scorpion, I figured I'd change the pose to one that showed some motion. Hacking the legs off the base was fairly easy, though two of the "toes" of one of the feet cut free were too thin to remain. I made a new toe using a styrene piece cut from a solid rectangular strip and then added sculpty to build up the other one. Then I filed the miniature where the hole was drilled to fill it and clean it up. Finally, I added sculpty to the base, plus some gravel flocking. The intent is to present this mini as if it is walking across a street.
And here's the pre-paint final product.
This last picture shows the completed, mostly original Ral Partha Scorpion I painted compared to the modified version.
You've done a nice job bringing it up to spec.
